Junction 29 at night

Posted on: 7 August 2012

Road users are being advised of overnight road closures around the area of the M5 Junction 29 upgrade scheme next week.

The A30 Westbound carriageway from the Daisymount Junction to the Moor Lane Roundabout and the M5 Junction 29 southbound entry and exit slip roads and the northbound exit slip road will be closed from 8pm until 6am while resurfacing, installation of signs, kerbing and cabling is carried out from Monday 13 August to Saturday 18 August. During the daytime the A30 and M5 slip roads will be open as normal.

A signed diversion for westbound A30 traffic will be put into place. This will be from Daisymount Junction via the B3180, Half Way Inn, A3052, A376, Junction 30 Sandygate Roundabout, Moto Roundabout, and Moor Lane Sowton to Moor Lane Roundabout.

Anyone travelling to the Airport in the A30 westbound direction will also be diverted via the same route to Junction 30 Sandygate and Moor Lane to M5 Junction 29 to return eastwards via the A30.  Those wishing to join the A30 westbound at the Airport junction or the Blackhorse westbound on-slip will be diverted to Daisymount to follow the diversion towards Moor Lane Roundabout.

Southbound traffic on the M5 wishing to leave the motorway at Junction 29 will be signed to continue to Junction 30 and follow the diversion route via Moor Lane to Junction 29.

M5 northbound traffic wishing to take the Junction 29 exit slip road, will be signed to leave the motorway at Junction 30 and follow the diversion along Moor Lane to Moor Lane roundabout.  M5 northbound traffic which misses the signs before Junction 30, will continue to Junction 28, leave the M5 at Junction 28, drive around the roundabout and return on the M5 southbound to Junction 30, following the diversion route via Moor Lane to Junction 29.

The resurfacing work is being carried out by South West Highways Ltd as part of Devon County Council’s scheme to improve the road network around Junction 29.

Further night-time closures of the A30 and M5 slip roads are also scheduled for the following week and in September.
