B3212 closure at Dousland in the New Year for bridge reconstruction
Posted on: 22 December 2016
Essential bridge reconstruction work will be carried out on the B3212 in the New Year, requiring a three week closure at Dousland, near Yelverton
The scheme is expected to take around eight weeks to complete but a full road closure will only be needed for the first three weeks, starting from 8am on Monday 9 January.
The road will be closed just north of the Sharpitor Road/ Burrator Road Junction in Dousland. The official diversion route will be signed via Yelverton, along the A386 to Tavistock, and via the B3357 to Princetown.
The road is scheduled to be re-open with one lane open and two way traffic lights in operation, by Tuesday 31 January.
The closure will enable the culvert carrying the B3212 over the Devonport leat to be reconstructed safely.
In order to minimise the duration of the full road closure, new culvert deck units are being precast off site, by contractor SWH Ltd, and will be lifted into place using a crane. Advanced works have also been carried out, with an underground electricity cable diverted in the autumn.
