Devon County Council leader John Hart is writing to all Devon’s newly-elected MPs to congratulate them on their success.

Mr Hart will also be offering to hold individual meetings with them all in the New Year to discuss the county council’s budget for 2020/21.

The budget has to be set by the end of February but has been affected by delays in the notification of national grants caused by the General Election.

“I am writing to all our MPs to congratulate them on their election and wish them every success in representing this wonderful county,” said Mr Hart.

“I will also be arranging to meet them to talk about what Devon County Council does for their constituents and what we need from central government.

“It is vitally important that local government works effectively with national government for the benefit of all our residents.”

I hope Mr Hart has reminded all new Devon MP’s about the chronic under-funding of our schools when compared to the national average.
