**UPDATED at 16.30 on 26/6/2019**

The A3072 at Holsworthy will be closed between Waterloo Road and Coles Mill Bridge for an extra day on Friday 28 June from 7.30am, reopening no later than 5pm, to allow essential resurfacing work to be completed.

The road was due to reopen on Thursday 27 June but unfortunately the schedule has been set back due to the breakdown of an essential piece of plant machinery on site.

Signed diversion routes will be in place.

Essential resurfacing work on the A3072 at Holsworthy has been delayed due to recent poor weather.

Daytime road closures were due to start on Monday 17 June but have been postponed until the end of the week and into next week.

The road will now be closed between Anvil Corner and Waterloo Road for resurfacing on Friday 21 June, Monday 24 June and Tuesday 25 June and then between Waterloo Road and Coles Mill Bridge on Wednesday 26 June and Thursday 27 June.

The road closures will be during the daytime from 7.30am, reopening no later than 5pm each day.

No vehicles will be able to park on the road during the work. Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained. For all other vehicles a recommended diversion route in both directions using roads of equal category will be signed, although motorists with good local knowledge may use minor roads to work their way around the closure and short cut the diversions.

The official signed diversion route for all vehicles less than 12 ft high will be in place via Anvil Corner to Holsworthy Beacon to Holsworthy and vice versa. For vehicles over 12 ft high the diversion is via Holsworthy, Whimble Cross to Anvil Corner and vice versa.

Access to residential properties and businesses within the closure will be able to have vehicular access their properties by liaising with the site foreman, although there may be a short delay until it is safe to pass. Pedestrian access will be available throughout the work.

The scheme is being carried out by contractor Skanska.

See comments about the A3072 road closure. Why is this process so complicated? I don’t know whether my complaint has been submitted. The public have a right to contact you without going through hoops!

    • Hi Kate. Sorry you found the process of submitting a comment on our news website complicated. We hold comments in pre-moderation to make sure they adhere to our ‘house rules’ before we post them publicly, which is why your comment didn’t appear instantly.

I wish to complain about the diversion signage for these works. I was trying to travel between Bude & the A30, and was planning to go through Stratton, Holsworthy & Hatherleigh via the A3072 & 386 (as I had done last year). On arriving in Holsworthy at every road signed ‘Hatherleigh A3072’ I was met with a ‘road closed’ sign but no diversion. After turning around twice I gave up & headed down the A388 to Launceston & joined the A30 there. The signage was appalling! Not everyone has ‘local knowledge’ & you are in holiday area. We stayed at a campsite mid way between the 2 towns last year, but could not have accessed it today! It was a lengthy detour I could have done without, with a 3 hour drive ahead of me. If the A3072 was shut to Hatherleigh it should have said so! Your signage needs to be much better! Not everyone has SatNav either! I would appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Please ensure when driving in Staddon Road you adhere to the speed limit. The road is narrow and cars are driving very fast which is dangerous.
