Deep Lane junction improvements complete
Posted on: 28 April 2017
Work has been completed on the first phase of improvements at Deep Lane junction near Plympton.
The junction on the B3416 is now fully open (Friday 28 April) following the £3.1 million upgrade.
With construction of Sherford to the south, and future development and growth, the junction scheme ensures the infrastructure is in place to meet future need of the new community. The upgrades to the Deep Lane junction provide improved road capacity to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
The first phase of the scheme has replaced the Ridgeway roundabout with a junction with traffic lights, and the existing Deep Lane junction has been increased in size.
The left turn lane for traffic heading to the eastbound slip road has also been widened, and the road and footpath/cycleway has been realigned with crossing points added to existing pedestrian routes. Improvements have also been made to signs and drainage, and new street lights have been installed.
The scheme has been funded with £2 million of Growth Deal money from the Heart of the South West Local Economic Partnership (HotSW LEP), with the remainder paid for by developers.
