Devon County Council and Proud to Care sponsor Outstanding Care Awards
Posted on: 30 April 2018
Devon County Council and Proud to Care Devon are sponsoring the Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall 2018, as part of their ongoing campaign to encourage more people to work in the care sector.
The awards, at the Livermead House Hotel, Torquay, on Friday 8 June, will be a celebration of the very best of the caring profession in health and social care across the two counties.
Devon County Councillor Andrew Leadbetter, Cabinet Member with responsibility for adult social care and health will officially open the ceremony. He said:
“Support workers in health and social care are doing an exemplary job day in, day out, helping vulnerable people in the community to live independently in their own homes, or in residential or nursing care, or while in hospital.
“Through our Proud to Care Devon campaign, we are encouraging people to consider careers in social care and health services; to see a career in care being a role that is highly valued and rewarding.
“These awards will be a celebration of our sector, and will pay tribute to the incredible people and work that often goes unnoticed by media and society.”
The awards are run by the Care Network Group, and will be hosted by Debra Searle MVO, MBE, who shot to fame after rowing the Atlantic Ocean solo.
