Emergency closure of damaged bridge at Holne
Posted on: 21 April 2020
An emergency closure of the Grade II listed Newbridge at Holne will be introduced from 8am tomorrow morning (Wednesday 22 April) after the structure was damaged by an HGV.
The historic bridge between Ashburton and Two Bridges, which dates from 1413, was struck by the vehicle yesterday (Monday 20 April), pushing out the bridge parapet.
The closure is needed to enable the damaged three-metre section of the bridge parapet to be taken down and rebuilt. Scaffolding is currently being put in place on the structure.
The bridge over the River Dart is expected to be closed for around a week while repairs are carried out.Posted in: DCC Homepage | Environment
