Footballing girls win national final

An Exeter girls’ football team are the under-11 National Futsal Champions.
Wynstream Primary School won the national title beating Bedgrove School from Buckinghamshire 6-1 in the final.
Faye Dixon scored five goals and Sophie Bishop added the sixth.
The competition took place today (Friday 3 May) at St George’s Park – the home of English football.
For the last two years running, the Wynstream girls’ teams have become county champions in U-11 girls football as well as county champions in Futsal for the last three years in a row.
This year they won the regional finals before going on to win their group at the national U-11 Futsal semi-finals in Birmingham and qualifying for the finals.
Head of PE, Jonny Holding, said: “We are all incredibly excited and so proud of the achievement of the girls to come all the way from Exeter to be crowned the best in the country.
“It’s the first national championship for our school and an unforgettable experience for the girls who have worked extremely hard to get to where they are.
“They’ve done not only the school but the whole community proud in their journey towards excellence and will go down in Wynstream sports history.”Posted in: Education
