The main phase of highway improvements on the A381 Totnes Western bypass will get underway next week. (w/c 3 May)

The three-month scheme, which will continue until the end of July, will involve drainage refurbishment, bridge deck waterproofing, resurfacing and traffic sign maintenance.

Overnight lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place from 7pm-7am on the evenings of Thursday 6 May and Friday 7 May as well as the evening of Monday 10 May.

The road will then be fully closed overnight from 7pm-7am from the evening of Tuesday 11 May to Wednesday 16 June. Overnight closures will not be in place at weekends.

Access will be maintained at the junction with Plymouth Road during these overnight closures except between the evenings of Thursday 20 and Friday 21 May and Monday 24 – Thursday 27 May.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A381 Halwell, A379 Aveton Gifford/Modbury, A321 Ermington, A38, A385 Tigley and vice versa during overnight closures. However, local motorists may find alternative routes.

During the daytime, from Monday 7 June to Wednesday 16 June, the pedestrian footpaths across Collapark Railway Bridge will be closed alternately while resurfacing work is carried out on them. Signs will advise pedestrians of alternative walking routes.

Further details are being finalised on the remaining schedule of resurfacing work from Wednesday 16 June to the end of July.
