An Exeter secondary teacher has won a national teaching award.

Kelly Tarlowski, a science teacher at St Peter’s C of E School in Exeter, has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Pearson Education Teachers’ Awards.

She received her certificate and a letter of congratulations written by author Michael Morpurgo, who’s President of the Teaching Awards, in an assembly at the school.

The award celebrates the life changing impact on students that Mrs Tarlowski has had in her 12 years at St Peters.

Headteacher Phil Randall said: “We are delighted that once again St Peter’s have been recognised nationally for the excellence we aspire to every day.

“Mrs Tarlowski believes the best of her students and they believe in her. She is a creative teacher who enables students to have the courage to take considered risks for learning. Students work hard with Kelly, achieve outstanding results and manage to have great fun too.”
