Newton Abbot recycling centre to temporarily close for works

Posted on: 21 January 2020

The Brunel Road Household Waste Recycling Centre (Newton Abbot) will be closed for a week in February and for a week in March for maintenance works.

The site will be closed to the public from Monday 3 February to Sunday 9 February and again from Monday 9 March to Sunday 15 March, 2020 (inclusive).

The site will be open as normal at other times.

The works are being undertaken in the quieter winter period to try and minimise disruption to the public as much as possible.

An alternative facility is available at Exton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter for those that need to recycle/dispose of material during the closure periods.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

  1. Jeremy Irwin says:

Some people – especially those living south of Newton Abbot – may find that Torquay is a lot nearer than Exeter. Why have no arrangements been made to liaise with Torbay Borough Council to permit Devon residents to use Torbay’s recycling facilities for those two weeks only? Recycling needs to be a joined up effort, yet artificial divisions (such as saying that Devon residents cannot use Torbay facilities and vice versa) hinder these efforts. Far too much compartmentalisation, not enough joined up working to make it as easy as possible for residents – wherever they live – to maximise the recycling turnout.
