Overnight closures planned for Bray Viaduct repairs
Posted on: 29 January 2019
A number of overnight closures are planned in the coming weeks as part of repair work being carried out at Bray Viaduct on the A361, near Barnstaple.
Essential work to replace an expansion joint on the structure started earlier this month, with overnight repairs initially getting underway on the Tiverton-bound carriageway.
The scheme is progressing well with work being carried out overnight using two-way traffic signals between 7pm and 6am, five nights a week. The road is fully open during the daytime.
To enable the work to switch to the Barnstaple-bound side, the road will need to be completely closed from 7pm on Tuesday 5 February. It’s expected to remain closed the following morning while the temporary ramp for traffic is tested. The road will re-open no later than 3pm the next day (Wednesday 6 February) at the latest.
The road is also scheduled to be closed overnight on Sunday 10 February and Wednesday 6 March, and advanced warning will be provided on any further dates.
During all closures, a signed diversion will be in place via Landkey, Swimbridge and Filleigh.
For safety reasons, the 30mph speed limit remains in place across the viaduct, with speed cameras located on the structure to enforce the restriction.Posted in: DCC Homepage | Environment
