Overnight closures will be needed to carry out essential resurfacing on Station Road and Ashburton Road in Totnes later this month (March).

The A385 in Totnes will be closed for five nights starting from Monday 11 March. The road, which runs past Totnes railway station, will be closed from 7pm each evening, re-opening no later than 7am the following morning.

People who live or work within the area of the closure will be allowed access to homes and businesses during the night-time closures, although they may be asked to wait a short time until it is safe to do so. Access will be maintained at all times for emergency vehicles.

The closure will impact access to the railway station overnight, and vehicles will only be able to enter the station from the Morrisons side. Anyone arriving in Totnes on a train after 7pm will need to follow the contractor’s instructions to leave the station via the road closure. Pedestrian access to and from the train station will be maintained from both directions at all times.

The official signed diversion route will be in place via the A385, A384, A38, A383, A382, A381 and A385. Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A385 for traffic travelling to and from Kingsbridge via the A381 Western by-pass.

During the closure, work will also be carried out to clean road drains and rebuild a manhole chamber under the road.

The scheme will be carried out by contractor South West Highways.
