Pavement resurfacing in Newton Abbot
Posted on: 18 February 2019
Overnight work will be carried out to resurface pavements in Queen Street in Newton Abbot next month (March).
The scheme, which is due to get underway on Monday 4 March, will be carried out on weekday evenings between 6pm and midnight. The footpaths will be open as usual during the day.
The work will start at the western end of Queen Street, and it is expected to take three weeks to complete.
The sections being resurfaced are:
• East side of Courtenay Street from Victoria Place to junction with Queen Street.
• North side of Queen Street from Courtenay Street to junction with Albany Street.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: “This is the second phase of improvements to pavements in the Queen Street area of Newton Abbot. In order to minimise disruption to local shops and businesses, the work is only being carried out during weekday evenings. The contractors will be working on short sections of path each night, with the pavements open as usual during the day.”
