Phase one of Kenwith Viaduct work complete
Posted on: 8 December 2016
The first phase of essential refurbishment of Kenwith Viaduct on the A39 near Bideford has been completed.
From today (Thursday 8 December) Devon County Council has re-opened both lanes of the bridge for the Christmas period. A 20mph speed restriction will remain in place.
The £250,000 scheme is replacing a damaged expansion joint at the Bideford end of the structure, which was found by County Council engineers during a routine inspection in July.
Phase two of the work is due to start on Tuesday 3 January, when temporary two-way traffic lights will be reinstated and the 20mph restriction will continue.
The work is being carried out by contractor SWH Ltd.
