Shaldon Bridge repairs rescheduled for overnight on Thursday 13 December
Posted on: 12 December 2018
Essential structural repairs to Shaldon Bridge have been re-scheduled to be carried out tomorrow night (Thursday 13 December).
The bridge will be completely closed from 8pm on Thursday night until 2am the following morning (Friday 14 December) to enable concrete to be poured around the damaged pier support.
Poor weather conditions have so far hampered efforts to reinforce the Grade Two Listed structure, despite the divers working two-tide shifts when able to. Tomorrow’s overnight closure has been determined by suitable tides times and to minimise disruption to motorists, and it’s hoped there will be a favourable weather window.
However, contractor TMS Ltd of Teignmouth may again be delayed if weather conditions are poor.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure.
