Shared cycle and walking route at Rock Park Bridge closed

Rock Park Bridge in Barnstaple is closed until further notice with immediate effect.
Emergency works on the 133-year-old former railway bridge, which now carries the shared pedestrian / cycle path over the River Taw, are needed.
The closure follows a routine underwater inspection which revealed corrosion in the large steel columns in the river section which support the bridge.
A signed pedestrian / cycle diversion will be in place via Barnstaple Long Bridge. The public are advised to allow additional time for journeys.
