Stay well this Christmas

Posted on: 16 December 2016

Make sure you’re well prepared through the Winter months to deal with any bouts of illness, and know where to go and what to do.

Pharmacies, minor injuries units and walk-in centres provide advice and treatment without an appointment, and the telephone service NHS 111 gives advice on self-care and where best to go for help.

If you are not sure what to do or where to go, phone NHS 111. The trained staff will direct you to the most appropriate service, whether that’s A&E, your nearest minor injuries unit or treatment centre – they’ll tell you how to get there – a home visit from a doctor or advice on self-care.

Pharmacists are able to offer you quick and early advice if you’re feeling under the weather and can now provide some medicines that are usually only available on prescription. Many have consulting rooms to ensure privacy and lots of large supermarkets have in-store pharmacies.

When is my pharmacy open?

Information about which pharmacies are open over Christmas can be found on the NHS England website  or the Devon Local Pharmaceutical Committee website.
